Pole stars AMATEUR 2023 (Autumn edition)

POLE STARS - AMATEUR is all about pole dancing it your way- unleashing your inner expression in any style of pole dancing style you desire. Whether you be a contemporary star, exotic flow goddess or an OG style showgirl/showboy - this competition is for you!

AMATEURS OF ALL LEVELS - WELCOME
POLE STARS AMATEUR is for amateurs of all levels - be it your first competition or your 10th, as long as you have never placed in any pole competition (be it Social or Graded), you are welcome to enter!

POLE STARS AMATEUR will be divided into 3 divisions:
1. Nebula Division (Beginners)
- competitors must not have previously competed in a pole competition higher than Beginner level;
- Routine duration cannot exceed 2 minutes;
- Moves that fall under the following categories are NOT permitted in both entry videos and actual performance routines:
a) require any form of inversions (moves where the legs are above head including but not limited to inverts, shouldermounts and static v/ayesha); and/or
b) require less than 3 grip points on the pole (eg devil’s split, elbow grip ayesha etc)

2. Protostar Division (Intermediate)
- competitors must not have previously competed in a pole competition at a level higher than the Intermediate division;
- Routine duration cannot exceed 2 minutes 30 seconds;
- Moves that fall under the following categories are NOT permitted in both entry videos and actual performance routines:
a) requires any form of aerial inversions (including but not limited to aerial inverts, aerial shouldermounts);
b) requires less than 3 grip points on the pole (eg static v/ayesha, devil’s split, elbow grip ayesha, rag doll etc)
- Exceptions to rule 2(b) and moves that are permitted: cross-knee layback, straight leg layback, climbs and other transitionary positions on the pole that require 2 grip points for less than 1 second to go into other moves that result in more than three grip points (eg variations of climbs, aerial ballerina entries)

3. Supernova Division (Advanced)
- competitors must not have previously competed in a pole competition at a level higher than the amateur division;
- competitors must have not placed or won a pole competition in any division or category higher than Beginner Level or Intermediate Level category.
- Routine duration cannot exceed 3 minutes.

4. Hypernova Division (Elite)
- competitors must not have won a graded amateur-level pole competition or won/placed in a semi-professional or professional level pole competition or higher;
- current pole dance instructors and/or paid performers are permitted to enter;
- Routine duration cannot exceed 3 minutes 30 seconds.

5. Meteor Division (Open Level + Dance Only)
- competitors must not have previously competed in a pole competition at a level higher than the amateur division;
- competitors must have not placed or won a pole competition in any division or category higher than Beginner Level or Intermediate Level category.
- Routine duration cannot exceed 2 minutes;
- Only basework or Floorwork Tricks and transitions are allowed.
- Moves that fall under the following categories are NOT permitted in both entry videos and actual performance routines:
a) requires climbing the pole;
b) requires aerial inversions (including but not limited to aerial inverts, aerial shouldermounts);
c) requires more than one inversion (moves where the legs are above head) on the pole in a row;
d) requires more than one inversion (moves where the legs are above head) on the pole + 3 grip and/or positional adjustments before coming down to the ground.

Watch our amazing Amateur finalists fight for the top spot as the ultimate POLE STAR. They will be dancing it their way from the comfort of their own homes, and unleashing their inner expressions in unique styles of low flow dance.

Please note that this is an 18 years and over event. Any minors viewing the show require parental supervision.

How to enter?
You will need to:
1. Read through Competition Rules and Video Entry requirement rules carefully;
2. submit an entry video; and
3. pay the entry fee of $25 AUD
